Who is the Gourmet Butterfly?
Growing up part time in the mountainous region of Sweden, Kersti Bowser was continuously
immersed in the rustic style of her grandmothers cooking. From canning the summers bounty to picking wild mushrooms from the
forest that was literally in the ”back yard,” to fishing pike for dinner from the lake in the ”front yard.”
Discovered by Seventeen Magazine in the early
1980's, Kersti crossed over many boundaries for well over a decade as a successful top fashion model.
Traveling across the globe with her passion
for cooking in her back pocket, she took the opportunity to learn from different cultures, their indigenous foods and unique
styles of cooking.
In 1999, Kersti pulled her dream of becoming
a food professional off of the back burner to attend the Culinary Institute of America. ”The
best decision I ever made...it changed my life...it changed me...it made me strong.”
With an externship at a young TV Food Network,
she worked her way up the ranks with a can-do attitude and a zest for learning. That same energy has landed her in a position of influencing many of the techniques
and styles of which we presently see on television and in cook books.
Kersti is fueled with determination and drive,
as she has successfully become one of the most sought after Food Stylists and Culinary Producers in an industry that has mushroomed
into a multi-billion dollar machine. She has the opportunity to work with, and
learn from top celebrity chefs and industry talents across the board. These iconic culinary leaders, also gives Kersti
and the Gourmet Butterfly team exclusive influences for catering of special events.
With well over one thousand shows, several cookbook and magazine collaborations under her belt
for hot names like; Cat Cora, Ming Tsai, Tyler Florence, Rachel Ray, Rocco Dispirito, Lidia Bastianich, Sandra Lee, Guy Fieri,
Paula Deen and Sara Moulton, Kersti has learned that work ethic speaks for itself.
